The Perinatal Telepsychiatry Clinic provides a one-time virtual psychiatric assessment to Washington State patients who are pregnant, postpartum, or planning pregnancy. Following the evaluation, comprehensive treatment recommendations and consultation are provided to the referring or primary care provider. This collaboration is meant to bridge the gap in access to specialized care by equipping the patient’s established medical team with a tailored plan for their mental health management.
How to Refer
Patients cannot self-refer to this program.

Service Overview
- Who We Serve: Patients in Washington state who are pregnant, postpartum, or planning pregnancy.
- Service Model: A consultation-only service for psychiatry and substance use concerns. We provide a single expert evaluation followed by a detailed report to the referring provider or primary care team.
- Prescribing: Please note that our psychiatrists do not prescribe medications or provide long-term care management. We provide a roadmap for referring providers to manage the patient’s care.
- No Crisis Intervention: This clinic is NOT a crisis service or a substitute for an emergency room. We cannot coordinate ER visits, hospitalizations, or law enforcement intervention.
The Process
- Referral: Provider completes the online clinic referral form.
- Intake: Our navigator contacts the patient within 3 business days to gather history and schedule the Zoom session.
- Assessment: The patient meets with a perinatal psychiatrist for a one-time evaluation.
- Consultation: A comprehensive report with specific medication and treatment recommendations is sent to the referring provider.
